A Street Accident
A Street Accident [ 350 Words]
Accidents are unfortunate incidents that can happen anywhere, at any time. One such incident I witnessed left a deep impression on me. It was a busy Monday morning, and the streets were crowded with people rushing to work and students hurrying to school. The traffic was heavy, and the air was filled with the sound of honking vehicles.
I was standing at the bus stop near the main market when I saw the accident happen. A young boy, probably around 10 years old, was trying to cross the road. He was in a hurry and didn’t notice the traffic light turning green for the vehicles. At the same moment, a speeding motorbike came rushing from the opposite side. The rider, seemingly in a hurry himself, didn’t slow down even at the zebra crossing.
In a matter of seconds, the bike hit the boy, and both fell to the ground with a loud crash. People around the area rushed to help. The boy was unconscious and had bruises on his face and arms. The biker was also injured but conscious. A few passersby immediately called an ambulance while others tried to comfort the injured.
Within minutes, the ambulance arrived and took both the boy and the biker to the nearest hospital. A traffic police officer who was nearby quickly noted down the details and cleared the crowd. The entire incident shook me. It was a clear reminder of how dangerous negligence on the road can be.
Later, I learned that the boy had suffered a fractured arm but was out of danger, while the biker had minor injuries. The accident could have been avoided if both had been more careful—if the boy had looked both ways before crossing, and if the biker had driven at a safer speed.
This incident taught me the importance of road safety. It’s crucial for both pedestrians and drivers to follow traffic rules strictly. A moment’s carelessness can lead to serious consequences. Since that day, I’ve become more cautious and always make sure to follow road safety guidelines.
