Report on Prime Minister visit to a flood affected area.

Staff Correspondence; Dhaka Tribune; Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached in Sunamganj to see for herself the sufferings of the people in the flood-affected Haor areas. She reached Shalla upazila headquarters Sunday morning, reports BSS. The premier will visit flashflood-hit haor areas and distribute relief goods among affected people on Shahid Ali High School ground. Later, the prime minister will hold a meeting with the officials where she would give necessary directives to overcome the situation. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, State Minister for Finance MA Mannan, State Minister for Water Resources Nazrul Islam are accompanying the prime minister. Flash floods triggered by early monsoon submerged vast swathes of Bangladesh’s northeastern region damaging Boro paddy just a few days ahead of harvesting and putting the livelihoods of thousands of farmers at risk. Sunamganj, Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Netrakona and Brahmanbaria districts were affected mostly by the floods.
