26 March, our Independence Day, is the biggest state festival. The day is celebrated every year in the country with great enthusiasm and fervour. It is a national holiday.

২৬ মার্চ, আমাদের স্বাধীনতা দিবস, দেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাষ্ট্রীয় উৎসবের অন্যতম। প্রতি বছর এ দিনটি সারাদেশ প্রচুর উৎসাহ ও উদ্দীপনার মধ্যে দিয়ে উদ্যাপিত হয়। দিবসটি সরকারি ছুটির দিন।

All offices, educational institutions, shops and factories remain closed on this day. The day begins with 31 gunshots.

সকল অফিস, শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, দোকান ও কলকারখানা এদিন বন্ধ থাকে। দিনটি শুরু হয় ৩১ বার তপোধ্বনির মাধ্যমে।

Early in the morning the President and the Prime Minister on behalf of the nation place floral wreaths at the National Musolium at Savar.

সারা দেশের পক্ষ থেকে রাষ্ট্রপতি ও প্রধানমন্ত্রী খুব সকালে সাভারে জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধে পুস্পস্তবক অর্পন করেন।

Then diplomats, political parties, social and cultural organizations, and freedom fighters pay homage to the martyrs.

তারপরে অন্য নেতৃবৃন্দ, রাজনৈতিক দলসমূহ, কূটনৈতিকবিদগণ, সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংস্থাসমূহ, শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহ এবং মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা শহিদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদ করেন।

People from all walks of life also come there with rallies and processions. There are several cultural programmes throughout the day highlighting the heroic struggle and sacrifice in 1971.

সকল স্তরের মানুষ র‌্যালি ও মিছিল নিয়ে সেখানে উপস্থিত হয়। বিভিন্ন ধরনের সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান সারাদিনব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে ১৯৭১ সালের বীরত্বপূর্ণ সংগ্রাম ও আত্মত্যাগের ঘটনা প্রদশিত হয়।

In the Bangabandhu National Stadium, school children, scouts and girl guides take part in various displays to entertain thousands of spectators.

বঙ্গবন্ধু জাতীয় ষ্টেডিয়ামে স্কুলের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা, স্কাউট ও গার্ল গাইডের বিভিন্ন ধরনের প্রদর্শনী দেখিয়ে দর্শকদের আনন্দ দেয়।

Educational institutions also organize their individual programmes. Sports meets and tournaments are also organized on the day, including the exciting boat race in the river Buriganga.

শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোও আলাদা আলাদা অনুষ্ঠানের ব্যবস্থা করে। এদিনে খেলাধূলার বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠান ও প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যার মধ্যে বুড়িগঙ্গা নদীতে আর্কষণীয় নৌকা বাইচ প্রতিযোগিতা উল্লেখযোগ্য।

In the evening, all major public buildings are illuminated with colourful lights.

সন্ধ্যায় সকল প্রধান সরকারি স্থাপনা রংবেরংঙের বাতি দিয়ে আলোকিত করা হয়।

Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and other socio-cultural organisations hold cultural functions. Similar functions are also arranged in other places in the country.

বাংলা একাডেমি, বাংলাদেশ শিল্পকলা একাডেমি ও অন্যান্য সামাজিক- সাংস্কৃতিক প্রতিষ্ঠান সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে। একই ধরনের অনুষ্ঠান দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে আয়োজন করা হয়।
