তুমি কি একটি শ্রেণিকক্ষের কথা ভাবতে পারো যেখানে কোনো ব্লাকবোর্ড অথবা ডেস্ক নেই।তুমি কি বিশ্বাস কর যে ছাপানো বই অথবা লেখার প্যাড অথবা কলম বা পেনসিল ছাড়া তুমি একজন ছাত্র হতে পারো?

Are you not thrilled to imagine that you have asked a question and your tutor is answering that while flying midair in a Boeing from California to Tokyo?

These are all possible in a ‘virtual campus’ in the system of e-learning. No kidding! For quite a long time, educationists have been utilizing the advantages of computer technology.

এসবকিছুই সম্ভব ই-শিখন পদ্ধতির “ভার্চুয়াল ক্যাম্পাসে”। হাসির ব্যাপার নয়। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে শিক্ষাবিদরা কম্পিউটার প্রযুক্তির সুবিধা ব্যবহার হরে আসছেন।

The social networking services have a huge potential to help educationists in this sector. They have access to millions of people worldwide.

এই ক্ষেত্রে শিক্ষাবিদদের সাহায্য করতে সামাজিক যোগাযোগ সেবাসমূহের অনেক সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।। পৃথিবীব্যাপি লক্ষ লক্ষ লোকদের সাথে তাদের যোগাযোগের সুযোগ রয়েছে।

Educationists have noticed that a large number of social network users come from young generation and especially belong to student community.

শিক্ষাবিদরা লক্ষ করেছেন যে, অসংখ্য সামাজিক যোগাযোেগ ক্ষেত্রের ব্যবহারকারীরা এসেছে তরুণ প্রজন্ম থেকে, যারা বিশেষ করে ছাত্র সম্পদায়ের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।

So side by side with computer assisted teaching-learning software, online education programmes are evolving fairly rapidly to assist conventional education system. But is that eLearning?

কম্পিউটার নির্ভর লেখাপড়ার সফটওয়্যার (নির্দেশাবলি)-এর পাশাপাশি অনলাইন শিখার কর্মসূচিগুলো গতানুগতিক শিক্ষা পদ্ধতিকে সাহায্য করার ক্ষেত্রে দ্রুত বিপ্লব ঘটাচ্ছে। সেটাই কি ই-শিক্ষন?

We may confuse distant education or computer-based learning or computer-assisted training or even online education programmes with e-learning.

আমরা দূরশিক্ষণ অথবা কম্পিউটারনির্ভর শিখন অথবা কম্পিউটার সহযোগে প্রশিক্ষণ অথবা এমনকি অনলাইন শিক্ষা কর্মসূচিকে ই-শিক্ষণ- এর সাথে মিলিয়ে ফেলতে পারি।

But we should be cautious about the mix-up. What happens in an online education programme? Maybe you get some materials online from your tutor.

কিন্তু আমাদের উচিত হবে এই মিশিয়ে ফেলা নিয়ে সর্তক হওয়া।অনলাইনে শিক্ষা কর্মসূচির ক্ষেত্রে কী ঘটে? হতে পারে তুমি অনলাইনে বা নেটে তোমার শিক্ষক থেকে পড়ার উপকরণ পেতে পারো।

Maybe you submit your assignment through email. Or even you may take your test online. But there must be some conventional campus, a department/institute from where your certificate will come.

হতে পারে তুমি তোমার শিক্ষক কর্তৃক অর্পিত কাজ ই-মেইলের মাধ্যমে জমা দিতে পারো। অথবা এমনকি তুমি অনলাইনে পরীক্ষা দিতে পারো। কিন্তু সেক্ষেত্রে অবশ্যই কিছু তথাকথিত প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক ভবন থাকবে, একটি বিভাগ বা প্রতিষ্ঠান থাকবে যেখান থেকে তোমার সার্টিফিকেট আসবে।

But in e-learning, as said by global e-learning guru Dr Badrul H Khan*, every step such as, registration, admission, classroom entry and exit, class work, attendance, discussion with course mates, feedback, exams and finally certification must take place electronically through computer and the Internet technology in a virtual campus.

বিশ্ব ই-শিক্ষণ এর গুরু ড. বদরুল এইচ খান যেমন বলেন- ই-শিক্ষণ এর ক্ষেত্রে নিবন্ধন, ভর্তি, শ্রেণিকক্ষে প্রবেশ এবং প্রস্থান, শ্রেণিকর্ম, কোর্স বন্ধুদের সাথে আলোচনা, উপস্থিতি, ছাত্র পক্রিয়া, পরীক্ষা এবং সর্বশেষ সনদ প্রদান- এর মতো প্রতিটি ধাপই সংঘটিত হয়ে থাকে কম্পিউটার ও ইন্টারনেট প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে একটি ভার্চুয়াল ক্যাম্পাসে।

Everything is digitized and conducted by a system called Learning Management System (LMS). So online education programmes blend various components of e-learning.

সবকিছুই মেশিন নিয়ন্ত্রিত এবং শিখন ব্যবস্থাপনা পদ্ধতি নামে একটি পদ্ধতি দ্বারা পরিচালিত। সুতরাং নেটওয়ার্ক যোগাযোগ শিক্ষা কর্মসূচি ই-শিখন এর বিভিন্ন উপাদান-এর সাথে মিশে যায়।

The revolutionary concept of e-learning is already in its practice phase in many parts of the world. Professor Khan has developed a framework and important literatures on e-learning which have been praised by pundits worldwide including Bangladesh.

ই-শিখন-এর বৈপ্লবিক ধারণা ইতোমধ্যে পৃথিবীর অনেক অংশে পরীক্ষামূলক পর্যায়ে রয়েছে। প্রফেসর খান ই-শিক্ষণ-এর উপর একটি কাঠামো ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ নির্দেশনা গড়ে তুলেছেন যেগুলো যেগুলো পৃথিবীব্যাপী পন্ডিতদের দ্বারা প্রশংসিত হয়েছে।

Professor Khan is especially enthusiastic about the prospect of e-learning in Bangladesh. How would you feel if Bangladesh contemplates South Asia’s first virtual university? Won’t it be a pioneering step for us in the world of e-learning? Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

প্রফেসর খান বাংলাদেশে ই-শিক্ষণ এর সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে বিশেষভাবে উৎসাহী।তুমি কীভাবে দেখবে বাংলাদেশ যদি দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় প্রথম ভার্চুয়াল [প্রকাশ্যে বা নামত স্বীকৃত হলেও কার্যত] বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্থাপনের পরিকল্পনা করে? তাহলে ই-শিক্ষণ-এর বিশ্বে আমাদের জন্য এটি কি যুগান্তকারী পদক্ষেপ হবে না? চলো আমরা আশাবাদী হই।

University and the University of Texas, USA. He is one of the celebrated theorists in the field of
e-learning.
