Our Motherland Bangladesh

Our Motherland Bangladesh [605 Words]

Bangladesh is our beloved motherland. It is a small but beautiful country in South Asia. It became an independent country in 1971 after a long and heroic struggle. The people of Bangladesh fought bravely under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After nine months of war, the country was freed from the Pakistani rulers on December 16, 1971. Since then, Bangladesh has been a free and independent nation.

Our country is not very large in size, but it is rich in natural beauty. The total area of Bangladesh is about 1,47,570 square kilometers. It is surrounded by India on the west, north, and east, Myanmar on the southeast, and the Bay of Bengal on the south. The capital of our country is Dhaka, which is also the largest city. Other major cities include Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Barishal. The population of Bangladesh is more than 170 million. Though it is a densely populated country, the people are hardworking, brave, and hospitable.

Bangladesh is a land of rivers. The Padma, the Jamuna, the Meghna, and many other rivers flow across the country and make the land fertile. Our soil is very rich and suitable for growing crops. Rice, jute, sugarcane, tea, wheat, vegetables, and fruits are our main agricultural products. Agriculture is the main occupation of most of the people in our country. The rivers also help us with fish, which is an important part of our daily food.

The natural beauty of Bangladesh is truly charming. The green fields, golden crops, wide rivers, and blue sky make our country look like a paradise on earth. The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger. Cox’s Bazar, the longest sea beach in the world, attracts tourists from home and abroad. The tea gardens of Sylhet, the hills of Chattogram, and the rivers of Barishal make our country more beautiful and colorful.

The people of Bangladesh are simple, honest, and peace-loving. They live mostly in villages. They work hard to earn their living. The main religion of our people is Islam, but there are also Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians. All people of different religions live together in peace and harmony. The main language of our country is Bangla. We are proud of our language because our brave sons gave their lives for it on 21st February 1952. This day is now observed as International Mother Language Day all over the world.

Bangladesh has a rich culture and heritage. Our folk songs, dances, plays, and festivals are deeply rooted in our tradition. The national festivals like Pahela Baishakh, Eid, Durga Puja, Buddha Purnima, and Christmas are celebrated with great joy and unity. Our national dress is the saree for women and the panjabi or shirt for men. Our national flower is the water lily, the national bird is the magpie robin (doel), and the national animal is the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Bangladesh is progressing day by day. We have made great improvements in education, agriculture, industry, and technology. Many garments and textile industries have been established, and they earn a large amount of foreign currency for our country. Our country is also moving forward in the fields of science, information technology, and communication. The Padma Bridge is a great symbol of our pride and development.

Although Bangladesh faces many problems such as poverty, unemployment, and natural disasters, we are hopeful about our future. The people of our country are united and hardworking. If we all work honestly and sincerely, we can make Bangladesh a happy, peaceful, and prosperous country.

We love our motherland very much. It is our duty to serve our country and make it a better place to live in. We are proud to be Bangladeshi, and we will always love and respect our dear motherland, Bangladesh.
