Little Red
by- Jessica McDonald
Once there was a girl,
And her name was Little Red,
She set off to her grandmaâs house,
For Gram was sick in bed.
She wandered through the forest,
With her basket full of bread,
She ran into the Big Bad Wolf,
âWhere Are you going?â he said.
âIâm headed to my grandmaâs house,
Canât stop to talk,â said Red.
The sneaky wolf, he made a plan,
And then away he sped.
When Red got to her Grandmaâs house,
She saw her there in bed,
âOh, what big eyes, and ears, and teeth,
You have upon your head!â
âThe better to eat you with my dearâ
The hungry wolf just said.
âPlease donât eat me,â said Little Red,
âJust eat my bread insteadâ.

Summary of the poem “little red” by Jessica McDonaldâ
Explanation:
“Little Red” by Jessica McDonald is a short and simple poem that tells the story of Little Red Riding Hood, a classic fairytale character. The poem describes Little Red as a girl who wears a red cape and carries a basket of food for her sick grandmother. As she walks through the forest, a wolf approaches her and asks where she is going. Little Red tells him about her grandmother’s house, and the wolf tricks her into telling him the location. The poem ends with the wolf running ahead to the grandmother’s house, where he eats both the grandmother and Little Red. The poem is a condensed retelling of the famous fairy-tale, with a focus on the innocence of Little Red and the treacherous nature of the wolf.
