Answer: Once upon a time in Iran, there was a great poet named Sheikh Sadi, He possessed a versatile genius. He was well-known for his generosity.
One day, the poet was going to Bagdad. At that time, the roads were not as comfortable and secured as today. Nobody dared to travel alone. Saadi was travelling with a group of merchants. They had their valuable goods with them and a lot of money. Saadi had some money and a bundle of books. They were going through a desert. In those days robbery was a common event in desert. The robbers used to kill the passers-by brutally and take away all their belongings. The group travelled for twelve days without facing any trouble. On thirteenth day, they saw a green oasis in the midst of the desert. They decided to take rest there. Generally oasis is the most durable place in the desert. Everybody was taking rest and Saadi was absorbed in reading a book. Suddenly, a group of robbers attacked them. The attack was swift and they had nothing to do. They captived all of them and took away all the goods and money from the merchants. The leader of the robbers caught Saadi and ordered him to give everything valuable. Sadi gave him the bundle of books and said, I hope you will make the best use of these valuable books.
The leader became surprised at Saadi’s words. He asked Saadi, “What good will come out of these piles of paper?
Saadi answered. “Give these books to your children and employ a good teacher for them. Then your children will make you understand that how sinful it is to snatch away others goods and money.”
Sadi’s words changed the sinful mind of the leader of the robbers. His mind was filled with repentance. He thought about his past deeds and felt like weeping. He at once decided not to commit robbery any more.
