Declaration of Independence

“This may be my last message. From today Bangladesh is independent.

স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা

এটি হয়তো আমার সর্বশেষ বার্তা। আজ হতে বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন।

“I call upon the people of Bangladesh whenever you might be and whatever you have, to resist the army occupation to the last.

আমি বাংলাদেশের জনগণকে আহবান করছি তোমরা যেখানেই থাকো না কেন, সেখান থেকে এবং তোমাদের যা কিছু আছে তাই নিয়ে দখলদার সেনাবাহিনীকে শেষ পর্যন্ত প্রতিরোধ কর।

Your fight must go on until the last soldier of the Pakistan occupation army is expelled from the soil of Bangladesh and final victory is achieved.”

বাংলাদেশের মাটি থেকে পাকিস্তানি দখলদার বাহিনীর সর্বশেষ সৈন্যটি বিতাড়িত না করা পর্যন্ত এবং চূড়ান্ত বিজয় অর্জিত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তোমাদের লড়াই অবশ্যই চলবে।

In the speech he narrated the long history of repression and struggle of Bangalees for self-rule. There he narrated how the Pakistani rulers exploited us and tired to stop our voice at the gun-point.

ঐ ভাষণে তিনি বাঙালিদের দমন ও স্বশাসনের জন্য আন্দোলনরে দীর্ঘ ইতিহাস বর্ণনা করেছেন।এতে তিনি বর্ণনা করেছেন- কীভাবে শাসকগণ আমাদের শোষণ করেছে এবং কীভাবে বন্দুকের সাহায্যে আমাদের কণ্ঠকে স্তব্ধ করার চেষ্টা করেছে।

By the end of the speech he urged everyone to be prepared with whatever they had. He emphasized that our struggle was for liberty and independence.

ভাষণের শেষে তিনি প্রত্যেককে তাদের যা কিছু আছে তাই নিয়ে প্রস্তুত থাকতে আহবান জানান। তিনি জোর দিয়ে বলেন যে, আমাদের সংগ্রাম মুক্তি ও স্বাধীনতার সংগ্রাম।

And finally, the declaration of independence came from Bangabandhu in the first hours of 26 March, 1971.

এবং অবশেষে, ১৯৭১ সালের ২৬ মার্চের প্রথম প্রহরে বঙ্গবন্ধুর নিকট থেকে স্বাধীনতার ঘোষণা এসেছিল।

Bangabandhu had passed on this voice message just before he was arrested by the Pakistani Army.

বঙ্গবন্ধু পাকিস্তান সেনাবাহিনী কর্তৃক বন্দি হওয়ার পূর্ব মুহুর্তে এই কণ্ঠ-বার্তাটি পাঠিয়ে দেন।
