Completing Story: Necessity Knows No Law
Once there lived a poor farmer in a remote village. He worked hard from morning till evening, but he could hardly earn enough to support his family. One year, a severe flood destroyed all his crops. His family had no food to eat, and his children cried with hunger day and night. The farmer tried to borrow money from his neighbors, but they were also poor and could not help him.
One night, unable to bear his children’s suffering, the farmer decided to steal some food from a rich man’s storehouse. He quietly entered the storehouse and filled a small bag with rice. Unfortunately, the owner caught him before he could escape. Instead of becoming angry, the rich man asked him why he had stolen the rice.
With tears in his eyes, the farmer told him about his miserable condition. He said that he had never stolen anything before, but extreme poverty and hunger had forced him to do so. The rich man realized that the farmer was not a habitual thief but a victim of desperate circumstances. Feeling pity for him, he forgave the farmer and gave him enough rice and some money to support his family. He also offered him a job on his farm.
The farmer thanked the rich man sincerely. From that day onward, he worked honestly and never faced such hardship again. He became a respected man in the village and often advised others to remain honest and seek help rather than commit wrongdoing whenever possible.
Moral: Necessity knows no law, but kindness and honesty can overcome even the hardest situations.
