Neil A. Armstrong commanded the Gemeni 8 Mission and became the first human to walk on the moon as commander of Apollo 11. He was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio, on August 5, 1930. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California. Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, BuzzAldrin, and Michael Collins launcher the mission to the moon with Apollo 11 on July 16 and landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil A. Armstrong first stepped onto the surface and then Aldrin. They explored the surface and gathered moon rocks for over two hours. After exploring the surface they rejoined Collins in the orbiting Mothership. Neil A. ArmstrongĀ  died on August 25, 2012.
