Situation 2: Helping a friend to find an address

Shreya and Raya are both students at the same School. Shreya meets Raya standing just outside her house. The conversation between them goes something like this:

শ্রেয়া এবং রায়া উভয়ই একই স্কুলের ছাত্রী। শ্রেয়া ঠিক তার বাড়ির বাইরে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা অবস্থায় দেখতে পায়। তাদের মধ্যে বলা কথোপকথনটি এ রকম:

Shreya: Hey! What’s up?

শ্রেয়া : এই! কী হয়েছে?

Raya: Not much.

রায়া: তেমন কিছু না।

Shreya: Why are you standing here? Come inside, will you?

শ্রেয়া: তুমি এখানে দাঁড়িয়ে আছ কেন? ভিতরে এসো, আসবে কি?

Raya: (showing an address to Shreya) No. I need to be at this address, but I can’t find it.

রায়া: (শ্রেয়াকে একটি ঠিকানা দেখিয়ে) না, যাব না। এই ঠিকানাটি আমার দরকার। কিন্তু এটা আমি খুঁজে পাচ্ছি না।
Shreya: That’s easy. Go straight and then turn left. This house should be the third on your right side.

শ্রেয়া: এটা খুবই সহজ। সোজা চলে যাও এবং এরপর বামদিকে মোড় নিবে। তোমার ডানদিকের তিন নম্বর বাড়িটিই হবে এই বাড়ি।

Raya: You don’t say! I just have come from that direction. I must have missed it.

রায়া: (বিস্মিত হয়ে) আর বলো না! আমি তো এইমাত্র ঐদিক থেকেই এলাম। আমি এটা নিশ্চয়ই খেয়াল করিনি।

Shreya: Yes, you are.

শ্রেয়া: হ্যাঁ তাই।

Raya: I am in a bit of a hurry. Some other time, perhaps.

রায়া: আমার একটু তাড়া আছে। হয়তো অন্য কোন সময় (আসব)।

Shreya: Alright. Don’t forget, I owe you one.

শ্রেয়া: ঠিক আছে। ভুলে যেও না, তোমার অনুগ্রহের জন্য আমি ঋণী।

Raya: Yes, of course see you later.

রায়া: হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই পরে দেখা হবে।

Shreya: Okay, see you.

শ্রেয়া: ঠিক আছে, দেখা হবে (তোমর সাথে)।
