The Tha Kha floating market is more traditional with a few tourists visiting than other floating markets.

অল্পকিছু পর্যটকের সমাগমসহ থা খা ভাসমান বাজারটি অন্যান্য ভাসমান বাজারের চেয়ে অধিকতর ঐতিহ্যবাহী।

Originally, the Tha Kha floating market used to sit only six or seven days a month depending on the phase of the moon.

আদিতে থা খা ভাসমান বাজারটি চাঁদের কলার পর্যায়ের ওপর নির্ভর করে মাসে মাত্র ছয় কি সাতদিন বসতো।

Nowadays, the trade takes place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays too. The main buyers here are the Tha Kha natives.

আজকাল শুক্রবার, শনিবার ও রবিবারেও বেচাকেনা হাসাহাসি করছে এবং একে-অপরকে নাম ধরে ডাকছে। এখানকার প্রধান ক্রেতা হচ্ছে থা খার স্থানীয় অধিবাসীরা।

People seem to know each other very well. Everyone was seen smiling and calling each other by name.

লোকেরা পরস্পরকে ভালোভাবেই চেনে বলে মনে হয়। দেখা গেল প্রত্যেকেই হাসাহাসি করছে এবং একে-অপরকে নাম ধরে ডাকছে।

The locate did not notice Mita and others much. They were all busy buying and selling. They passed an hour and a half at the market and enjoyed the business.

স্থানীয়রা মিতা ও অন্যদেরকে তেমন লক্ষ করছে না। তারা সবাই ছিল কেনাবেচা নিয়ে ব্যস্ত। তারা বাজারে দেড় ঘণ্টা সময় কাটাল এবং বেচাকেনা উপভোগ করল।

Then all of them were hungry. They rowed near the boat of an elderly woman, who was selling food.

তারা সবাই ক্ষুধার্ত হয়ে পড়ল। তারা নৌকা বেয়ে একজন বয়স্কা মহিলার নৌকার কাছে গেল, যিনি খাবার বিক্রি করছিলেন।

She welcomed them with a smile and showed them the foods. They bought the traditional and very popular food called ‘Pad Thai’, a kind of noodles with shrimps, tomato and some vegetables, with freshly roasted crushed peanut.

তিনি তাদেরকে হাসিমুখে স্বাগত জানালেন এবং খাবারগুলো তাদেরেকে দেখালেন। তারা খুবই জনপ্রিয় ও ঐহিত্যবাহী খাবারটি কিনল।এটিকে বলা হয় “প্যাড থাই”- এটি বাগদা চিংড়ি, টমেটো, কিছু শাকসবজি ও সদ্য ভাজা বাদাম-চূর্ণ দ্বারা তৈরি এক প্রকার নুডুলস।

The food was served in a bowl made from banana leaf. After Pad Thai, they ate ‘Kanom Krok’. It is a coconut pancake which is very sweet.

খাবারটা কলাপাতার তৈরি পাত্রে পরিবেশন করা হয়েছিল। প্যাড থাইয়ের পরে তারা খেয়েছিল ‘ক্যানম ক্রক”। এটি তাওয়ায় ভাজা নারিকেলর পিঠা-এটি অত্যন্ত মিষ্টি।

The Tha Kha people are simple and easy going. They are very friendly and polite. They do not understand English or any other language.

থা খার অধিবাসীর সরল ও শান্তিপ্রিয়। তারা খুবই বন্ধুভাবাপন্ন ও ভদ্র। তারা ইংরেজি কিংবা অন্য কোন ভাষা বোঝে না।

Yet they have a way to communicate with Mita and others. Mita was delighted to see a traditional Thai floating market. She took a lot of pictures with the elderly sellers. (246 words)

তরু মিতা ও অন্যদেরকে সঙ্গে তাদের ভাব-বিনিময়ে একটা পন্থা আছে। একটি ঐতিহ্যবাহী থাই বাজার দেখে মিতা আনন্দিত হলো। বয়স্ক বিক্রেতাদের সংঙ্গে সে অনেকগুলো ছবি তুললো।
