There lived a man in a village. He had a great attraction to English and so he went to a teacher. The teacher began to teach him, but the man was dull-headed. In-spite of the earnest efforts of the teacher for a long time, he could learn only three words. These were â âyesâ, ânoâ and âvery goodâ. So, the teacher sent him back. He came to his village with these three words. He felt proud thinking that he had learnt quite a good amount of English. He also started using those three words irrelevantly. He never thought whether they were contextually right or wrong. He just used them whenever he found any chance.
One night a case of theft happened in his village. Police came to investigate into the matter the following day. The man appeared before the police and said that he wanted to say something. The police asked him, whether he knew about the theft. He said âyesâ in his usual way. The police then asked him to tell about the theft. But this time he said ânoâ. This cast doubt in the police about the involvement of the man with the theft. They warned the man of taking prison if he did not tell them everything. Hearing this the man answered âvery goodâ. So, the police arrested him. Thus his little knowledge of English brought for him misfortune.
