How is your Day – General Statements; Day: 59

In this lesson, we are going to learn how to communicate to someone using the present tense. However, because this isn’t a site teaching grammar, I do not want to spend too much time on details. I wanted to include this section primarily to show many different sentences using present tense and to have a dedicated practice section with only present tense sentences.

এই পাঠে, আমরা বর্তমান কাল ব্যবহার করে কারো সাথে কীভাবে যোগাযোগ করতে হয় তা শিখব। যাইহোক, যেহেতু এটি ব্যাকরণ শেখানোর পাঠ  নয়, তাই আমি বিশদ বিবরণে খুব বেশি সময় ব্যয় করতে চাই না। আমি এই বিভাগটি অন্তর্ভুক্ত করতে চেয়েছিলাম প্রাথমিকভাবে বর্তমান কাল ব্যবহার করে বিভিন্ন বাক্য দেখানোর জন্য এবং শুধুমাত্র বর্তমান কালের বাক্যগুলির সাথে একটি অনুশীলন বিভাগ।

This lesson is a little shorter than others because speaking in the present tense is not as common as speaking in the future or past tense. Although speaking in the future tense or the past tense is more common, it is still important to know how to communicate in the present tense. Here are some example sentences:

এই পাঠটি অন্যদের তুলনায় একটু ছোট কারণ বর্তমান সময়ে কথা বলা ভবিষ্যত বা অতীত কালের কথা বলার মতো সাধারণ নয়। যদিও ভবিষ্যত কাল বা অতীত কালের কথা বলা বেশি সাধারণ, তবুও বর্তমান সময়ে কীভাবে যোগাযোগ করতে হয় তা জানা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এখানে কিছু উদাহরণ বাক্য আছে:

“I see Bob over there by the newspaper stand.”

“Jill is stopping by now.”

“জিল এখন থামছে।”

“The meeting is starting now.”

“সভা এখন শুরু হচ্ছে।”

“The manager is waiting for you in her office.”

ম্যানেজার তার অফিসে আপনার জন্য অপেক্ষা করছে।

“Tell the receptionist that you are here to see Mr. Hwang.”

“রিসেপশনিস্টকে বলুন যে আপনি এখানে মিস্টার হোয়াংকে দেখতে এসেছেন।”

Questions:

A very common question you will run into is,

একটি খুব সাধারণ প্রশ্ন যা আপনি করতে পারেন,

“How are you doing?”

“তুমি কেমন আছ?”

“How is your day going?”

“আপনার দিন কিভাবে যাচ্ছে?”

“What are you doing now?”

“তুমি এখন কি করছ?”

To answer these types of question, you must remember that you are talking about what is currently going on now, so you must use the present tense.

এই ধরণের প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেওয়ার জন্য, আপনাকে অবশ্যই মনে রাখতে হবে যে আপনি বর্তমানে যা চলছে তা নিয়ে কথা বলছেন, তাই আপনাকে অবশ্যই বর্তমান কাল ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Here are some ways to answer the above question.

উপরের প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেওয়ার জন্য এখানে কিছু উপায় রয়েছে।

“I’m enjoying the beautiful weather without any worries in the world.”

“আমি পৃথিবীর কোন উদ্বেগ ছাড়াই সুন্দর আবহাওয়া উপভোগ করছি।”

“I’m playing a video game on my computer because I have nothing to do.”

“আমি আমার কম্পিউটারে একটি ভিডিও গেম খেলছি কারণ আমার কিছুই করার নেই।”

“I’m at the grocery store buying ingredients for tonight’s dinner.”

“আমি মুদি দোকানে আছি আজ রাতের খাবারের জন্য উপকরণ কিনছি।”

“I’m at the gym working out.”

“আমি জিমে ওয়ার্ক আউট করছি।”

As you can see, each sentence is starting with, ‘I am’ instead of ‘I will be’ or ‘I was.’ We will discuss past tense and future tense in the next sessions.

আপনি দেখতে পাচ্ছেন, প্রতিটি বাক্য ‘আমি হব’ বা ‘আমি ছিলাম’ এর পরিবর্তে ‘আমি আছি’ দিয়ে শুরু হচ্ছে। আমরা পরবর্তী সেশনে অতীত কাল এবং ভবিষ্যত কাল নিয়ে আলোচনা করব।

More descriptive answers you can give are the following:

“I’m pretty busy right now. I’m doing my homework because I have an exam tomorrow.”

“আমি এখন বেশ ব্যস্ত। আমি আমার বাড়ির কাজ করছি কারণ আগামীকাল আমার পরীক্ষা আছে।”

“My project deadline is coming up, so I’m currently in the process of finishing my tasks.”

“আমার প্রকল্পের সময়সীমা আসছে, তাই আমি বর্তমানে আমার কাজগুলি শেষ করার প্রক্রিয়ার মধ্যে আছি।”

“I’m taking the day off from work today because I have so many errands. I’m going to the post office to send some packages to my friends.”

“আমি আজ কাজ থেকে ছুটি নিচ্ছি কারণ আমার অনেক কাজ আছে। আমি আমার বন্ধুদের কিছু প্যাকেজ পাঠাতে পোস্ট অফিসে যাচ্ছি।”

“I’m looking for a job. The job market does not look that great, but I can’t give up.”

“আমি একটি চাকরি খুঁজছি। চাকরির বাজার তেমন ভালো লাগছে না, কিন্তু আমি হাল ছেড়ে দিতে পারি না।”

“I’m applying for a job at a consulting firm in Taiwan.”

“আমি তাইওয়ানের একটি পরামর্শক প্রতিষ্ঠানে চাকরির জন্য আবেদন করছি।”

“I’m listening to music while thinking about my situation.”
