A Journey by Local Bus

A Journey by Local Bus

A journey is always an exciting experience. It gives us pleasure and joy. Among all types of journeys, a journey by a local bus is very common and enjoyable in our daily life. I had such a journey recently, and it was both interesting and memorable for me.

Last month, I had to go to my uncle’s house in Gazipur from Dhaka. My uncle invited me to spend the weekend with him. I decided to go by a local bus because it was cheap and easily available. Early in the morning, I reached the bus stand at Mohakhali. The place was crowded with passengers, hawkers, and bus helpers shouting the names of their destinations. After waiting for some time, I got on a bus that was going to Gazipur. The bus was almost full, but luckily, I found a seat beside the window.

Soon the bus started moving. The driver blew the horn loudly, and the conductor called out for new passengers at every stop. The bus moved slowly through the busy streets of Dhaka. I could see tall buildings, shops, rickshaws, and people everywhere. The traffic was heavy, and the bus had to stop many times. It was a bit noisy, but I enjoyed watching the different scenes outside.

After leaving the city area, the bus began to move faster. The air became fresh and cool. I looked through the window and saw green fields, trees, ponds, and small villages on both sides of the road. The scenery was very beautiful and refreshing. Farmers were working in the fields, and children were playing near their houses. I felt happy to see the simple life of village people.

Inside the bus, the situation was quite lively. Some passengers were talking with each other, while others were busy with their mobile phones. A few street hawkers got on the bus to sell fruits, nuts, and water bottles. The conductor was moving up and down the bus, collecting fares and issuing tickets. Though the bus was a bit overcrowded, everyone seemed to be enjoying the journey.

After about an hour, the bus stopped at a small roadside tea stall. Many passengers got down to have tea and snacks. I also had a cup of tea and a banana. The short break refreshed everyone. Soon the driver blew the horn again, and all the passengers hurried back to their seats. The bus started moving once more.

As we went farther, I could see the highway lined with trees and green fields stretching far away. The weather was sunny but pleasant. Sometimes, I could feel the gentle breeze on my face through the window. It made me feel relaxed and peaceful. I took out my notebook and wrote a few lines about the beautiful nature I saw around me.

Finally, after about two hours, the bus reached Gazipur. I got down at the bus stand and saw my uncle waiting for me. I thanked the conductor and driver before leaving. Though the journey was not very comfortable due to the crowd, it was full of life and variety. I enjoyed it very much and learned how ordinary people travel every day to go to work, school, or market.

A journey by local bus may be simple, but it shows us the true picture of our country. It helps us understand the lives of common people and makes us patient and observant. That day’s journey by local bus was an unforgettable experience for me. Whenever I remember it, I feel happy and thankful for the chance to see and learn so much from such a simple trip.
