SSC Unit-2; Lesson-1(G): Pastimes

Hi, I’m Shyam. I’m from Magura. Though district headquarters, it’s a small town. I’m in grade 9 now in Chander Hut Bidyaloya.

এই যে, আমি শ্যাম। আমার বাড়ি মাগুরা। যদিও এটি জেলা সদর, এটি একটি ছোট শহর।আমি এখন চাঁদের হাট বিদ্যালয়ে ৯ম শ্রেণিতে পড়ি।

I love games and sports very much. My father was an athlete in his student life. He inspires me to follow his footsteps and take part in games and sports or do some exercise besides my studies.

আমি খেলাধূলা পছন্দ করি। আমার বাবা তাঁর ছাত্রজীবনে একজন ক্রীড়াবিদ ছিলেন। তিনি আমাকে তাঁর পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করতে অনুপ্রাণিত করেন এবং পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি খেলাধূলায় অথবা ব্যায়াম করতে বলেন।

So I get up early in the morning and take a walk with my father almost every day. We walk for about an hour. At school, during break I play kabadi, gollachut, badminton, table tennis, and carom.

এজন্য আমি খুব সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠি এবং প্রায় প্রতিদিনই আমার বাবার সাথে হাটতে বের হই। আমরা প্রায় এক ঘণ্টা ধরে হাটি। স্কুলে বরিতির সময় আমি কাবাডি, গোল্লাছুট, ব্যাডমিন্টন, টেবিল টেনিস ও ক্যারম খেলি।

Sometimes I practice the high jump and the long jump outside the school campus. Playing football in the nearest college ground is a passion for me. I like watching television too.

মাঝে মাঝে স্কুল ক্যাম্পাসের বাইরে আমি উচুঁ লাফ ও দীর্ঘ লাফ অনুশীলন করি। ফুটবল খেলায় আমার প্রবল ইচ্ছা। আমি টেলিভিশন দেখতেও পছন্দ করি।

I watch sports programmes on different TV channels during my free times. I’m a fan of National Geographic, Discovery, and Animal planet for their documentaries as they are quite interesting as well as educative.

মাঝে মাঝে স্কুল ক্যাম্পাসরে বাইরে আমি উচুঁ লাফ ও র্দীঘ লাফ অনুশীলন করি। ফুটবল খলোয় আমার প্রবল ইচ্ছা। আমি টেলিভিশিন দেখতেও পছন্দ করি।

আমি অবসর সময়ে বিভিন্ন দুরদর্শন চ্যানেলে খেলাধুলার অনুষ্ঠানও দেখি। আমি ন্যাশনাল জিওগ্রাফিক, ডিসকভারি ও অ্যানিমেল প্লানেট চ্যানেলের একজন ভক্ত সেগুলোর প্রামাণ্যচিত্র দেখার জন্য, যেহেতু সেগুলো খুবই চিত্তাকর্ষক ও শিক্ষামূলক।

Recently my father has presented me with a flashy camera as he was very happy with my junior secondary scholarship exams. When I hold the camera, I feel so excited!

সম্প্রতি আমার বাবা আমার জুনিয়র স্কুল পরীক্ষার ফলাফলে খুশি হয়ে আমাকে একটি ক্যামেরা উপহার দিয়েছেন। আমি খুব উৎফুল্ল হই যখন আমি ক্যামেরাটি ধরি।

I wish I could be an amateur photographer in future – not to snap only personal photographs at different parties but to shoot our beautiful Bangladesh. I’m sure that soon photography will be my most favourite pastime.

আমার ইচ্ছা হয় আমি ভবিষৎে একজন অপেশাদার ফটোগ্রাফার হই- কেবল বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানে ব্যক্তিগত ছবি তোলার জন্য নয় বরং আমাদের সুন্দর বাংলাদেশের ছবি তুলতে। আমি নিশ্চিত যে, খুব শীঘ্রই ছবি তোলা আমার প্রিয় অবসর বিনোদনে পরিণত হবে।
